Athens! The city that never sleeps.

 Athens is the biggest city of Greece and its capital with many things to do during day and night. It offers a wide variety of entertainment, from big night clubs to local taverns, depending on how you choose to entertain yourselves in Athens. No matter which day of the week you choose to go out you will certainly find a place to hang out.

One of the most popular areas in Athens is Gazi. Gazi is full of bars playing different kinds of music, varying from hard-rock to drum n’ base and jazz to traditional Greek music. There, you can also find three of the best mainstream Nightclubs, hosting the best parties in town and world-famous djs such as David Guetta and Erick Morillo. In addition, it is the home of several gay and lesbian bars and clubs, as Gazi was first known to be the place for these people. You can easily get to Gazi by the metro Blue Line, getting off at the stop “Keramikos”.

 A similar area near Gazi is Psiri. In Psiri, among mainstream bars and traditional taverns you can find places for people interested in art and alternative lifestyle. Psiri is also famous for its traditional taverns. You can find plenty restaurants serving traditional souvlaki and other famous Greek plates. In the main street of Psiri there are many bars serving traditional hot “Raki” accompanied by big plates with various types of meat. In such bars, there is usually a band of 3 or 4 people playing traditional Greek songs until early in the morning.

Another very beautiful place to visit during your night out is Thisio. However, it is preferable to visit Thisio during the sunset or a bit later. You can enjoy a late coffee or a glass of wine under the shade of the Acropolis rock and admire the beautiful view of the Acropolis with the colours of the sky during sunset. Then, you may continue your walk through the paths of Plaka were you can find many restaurants serving the most famous Greek traditional plates, usually accompanied by live Greek music.

These were three of the most famous areas in the centre of Athens, where you can have an amazing night out. However, don’t limit yourself and don’t hesitate to explore Athens.

"Cine Θησείο" πρώτο στη λίστα του CNN με τους καλύτερους κινηματογράφος του κόσμου

 Πρώτο σε λίστα του CNN με τα καλύτερα σινεμά του κόσμου βρίσκεται το Σινέ Θησείο. «Η Αθήνα φιλοξενεί πολλά θερινά σινεμά στη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού, αλλά κανένα δεν προσφέρει τη μαγευτική θέα του Σινέ Θησείον» γράφει ο συντάκτης του άρθρου στην ιστοσελίδα CNNGo που προφανώς τον κέρδισε εντυπωσιακή η θέα που έχει προς τον Παρθενώνα. 

 Ο κινηματογράφος βρίσκεται στον πεζόδρομο της οδού Αποστόλου Παύλου στο Θησείο. Χτίστηκε το 1935 και είναι το πιο παλιό θερινό σινεμά της Αθήνας. Λειτουργεί από τον Απρίλιο μέχρι τον Οκτώβριο, παίζοντας από blockbusters μέχρι παλιές, κλασικές ταινίες.

 Όσοι το επισκέπτονται, εκτός από την ταινία, μπορούν να απολαύσουν το σπιτικό γλυκό του κουταλιού ή τη δροσερή βυσσινάδα, φρεσκοψημένες τυρόπιτες ή hot dog συνοδεύοντάς τα με χωριάτικο τσίπουρο.

Shrimps ''Mikrolimano'' - Γαρίδες ''Μικρολίμανο''

 Μια παρασκευή που όσο περίεργο και αν ακούγεται προέρχεται απο την Αττική. Αρκετά ευκολη και γρήγορη αλλά πάρα πολύ γευστική.

Υλικά για 4 άτομα

1κ γαρίδες
80χλ ελαιόλαδο
1 σκελ. σκόρδο
200γρ. ώριμες τομάτες
50γρ ξερό κρεμμύδι
200γρ τυρί φέτα
100χλ λευκό κρασί
10γρ τοματοπελτέ
μαιντανό
αλάτι
πιπερι

Τρόπος παρασκευής

 

 Βγάζουμε το εντεράκι από τις γαρίδες και πλένουμε πολύ καλά. Αφαιρούμε το κέλυφος αφήνοντας την ουρά και το κεφάλι. 

 Βάζουμε το ελαιόλαδο σε ένα μεγάλο τηγάνι και το αφήνουμε να ζεσταθεί. Προσθέτουμε τις γαρίδες και τις τσιγαρίζουμε έως ότου ξανθίσουν ελαφρά και προσθέτουμε το σκόρδο και το κρεμμύδι ψιλοκομμένα. Αφήνουμε να τσιγαριστεί για 2 λεπτά και σβήνουμε με το λευκό κρασί προσθέτοντας τις ξεφλουδισμένες και χοντροκομμένες τομάτες. Προσθέτουμε τον τοματοπελτέ αραιωμένο με λίγο νερό, το αλάτι και το πιπέρι και το αφήνουμε να βράσει 5 λεπτά περίπου. Στη συνέχεια μοιράζουμε τις γαρίδες με την σάλτσα τους σε 4 ατομικά πήλινα σαγανάκια. Προσθέτουμε από πάνω τη φέτα, κομμένη σε μικρούς κύβους και ψήνουμε για 5 λεπτά σε δυνατό φούρνο. Πασπαλίζουμε με ψιλοκομμένο μαϊντανό και σερβίρουμε. Τέλος, θα μπορούσαμε να κάνουμε την συγκεκριμένη συνταγή πιο πικάντικη προσθέτοντας πιπεριές.

A traditional recipe from Attika, Greece. Very quick and easy to create, but very tasty.

Ingredients for 4 people

1kg shrimps
80ml olive oil
1 clove of garlic
200 grams ripe tomatoes
50 hrams dried onion
200 grams feta cheese
100 ml white wine
10 grams tomato paste
parsley
salt
pepper


Preparation

Lift out the intestinal vein from the back of the shrimps and wash throroughly. Remove the shells but leave the tail and the head in place.
Put olive oil in a large frying pan and let it warm. Add the shrimps and saute' until they are slightly gold and add the garlic and the chopped onion. Saute' the shrimps with the vegetables for 2 minutes and deglaze with white wine adding the peeled and coarsely chopped tomatoes. Add the tomato paste dissolved in a little water, the salt, the pepper and leave to boil for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve.

We Are All Greeks Now

Με κεντρικό σύνθημα "Είμαστε όλοι Ελληνες" έγιναν διαδηλώσεις υπέρ της Ελλάδας σε πλατείες, έξω από ελληνικές πρεσβείες και προξενεία σε περίπου 20 πόλεις του κόσμου. Χιλιάδες άτομα όλων των ηλικιών, ακόμη και οικογένειες με παιδιά, πλημμύρισαν τις πλατείες φωνάζοντας συνθήματα συμπαράστασης προς την Ελλάδα.

Στο Παρίσι, στην πλατεία Τροκαντερό, γνωστή ως πλατεία των "Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων", συγκεντρώθηκαν περισσότεροι από 2.000 πολίτες, μεταξύ αυτών και ο σκηνοθέτης Κώστας Γαβράς. Ακολούθησε πορεία προς την ελληνική πρεσβεία, το κτίριο του ΔΝΤ και της Παγκόσμιας Τράπεζας που γειτνιάζουν στη λεωφόρο Ιενά.

Στο Λονδίνο, παρά τη βροχή, περίπου 400 διαδηλωτές συγκεντρώθηκαν έξω από την ελληνική πρεσβεία. Στη συνεχεία έκαναν μικρή πορεία και ανανέωσαν το ραντεβού τους για το επόμενο Σάββατο.

Πλακάτ που κρατάει Γερμανίδα

Συγκεντρώσεις πραγματοποιήθηκαν ακόμη και στη Γερμανία. Στο Βερολίνο, όπου ήταν και η μαζικότερη,  δεκάδες Γερμανοί και 'Ελληνες συγκεντρώθηκαν στην πλατεία Wittenberg, έξω από το ελληνικό Προξενείο, προκειμένου να διακηρύξουν τη συμπαράστασή τους στον ελληνικό λαό, που πλήττεται από τα μέτρα λιτότητας.Κατά τη διάρκεια της συγκέντρωσης ακούστηκαν τραγούδια του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη και συνθήματα όπως "Διεθνής Αλληλεγγύη", ενώ διαβάστηκαν μηνύματα συμπαράστασης.

Συγκέντρωση αλληλεγγύης προς τους Έλληνες έγινε χθες το βράδυ και στην περιοχή της Γουόλ Στριτ, στο Μανχάταν της Νέας Υόρκης. Συγκεντρώσεις και πορείες έγιναν επίσης σε Βαρκελώνη, Άμστερνταμ, Στοκχόλμη, Κοπεγχάγη, Βρυξέλλες, Δουβλίνο, Κολωνία, Λισσαβόνα αλλά και Λευκωσία. 

Η πρωτοβουλία αλληλεγγύης προς την Ελλάδα και τον ελληνικό λαό ξεκίνησε στη Γαλλία, όταν πολίτες ζήτησαν την ελληνική υπηκοότητα από την ελληνική πρεσβεία με το σύνθημα «Είμαι κι εγώ Έλληνας». Στον διαδικτυακό τόπο «jesuisgrec.blogspot.com» Ευρωπαίοι υπογράφουν κείμενο αλληλεγγύης προς την Ελλάδα και ζητούν την ελληνική υπηκοότητα, θέλοντας να δηλώσουν με αυτόν τον τρόπο τη συμπαράστασή τους στον ελληνικό λαό που δοκιμάζεται από την οικονομική κρίση.

BRANDING GREECE

 At this second post of GreetGreece we will make a tribute to the Presentation on Branding Greece which was delivered at the 11th International Aristotelis Conference in Thessaloniki on 11 November 2011 by Peter Economides. A very interesting topic which can increase the popularity of the Greek tourism. GreetGreece will present you this topic in a simple and understandable way trying to make it known to more people.

The word brand at the way used to the presentation means what people think of you and branding is the procedure of controlling brand. Greece according to the presenter is one of the biggest brands worldwide which has never been branded. Many people around the globe have shown their aspiration to the Greek civilisation and the Greek tourism. Greece is the heart, the soul and the spirit of the Mediterranean and this need to be acknowledged from everyone, we need to own it and we need to express it worldwide, as a nation we require to motivate and be motivated by this. As said by the association of Greek tourism enterprises (SETE) the international arrivals from tourists the last decade were decreased by 20 percent for Greece whereas it was a significant increase of 15% for turkey and 6% for Croatia and as a result we need to reconsider and reorganise our position within the competitors environment by rebranding our nation as a top tourism destination. The tourism industry for Greece plays a significant role to the general economy and we own to use it for further development.

By answering key questions such as what is brand and if we can talk about a nation as brand we can notice that brand or branding is nothing more than the set of impressions that are kept in people minds.  Branding is the impression to your mind about things you have heard, things you have said and things that have happed about something.  This finale impression is what branding is trying to handle. Branding is the process of managing impressions; well-built brands create strong and reliable impressions, it should be the goal of every brand to be the protagonist of its category. if u use Google search engine as a brand barometer you will find out that the searches ''Greece crisis'' and ‘’Greece corruption’’ have more popularity than’’ Greece acropolis’’ and  ‘’ancient Greece’’ which gives the impression worldwide that Greece is the nation of crisis and not the mother of democracy and a top tourism destinations as it has to be.
We Greeks have to stop selling our tourism trying to make a short-term profit and we have to start managing the impressions and change the way and what others think about as. We have a long and successful history and we need to build on our future, the tourism industry can help a lot to the development of the economy.
